Why do we as Orthodox Christians defend a Worthy Metropolitan in our days?
The defense of Metropolitan Tychikos does not concern him personally, but his Hierarchical authority that he received from our Lord Jesus Christ! This Hierarchical authority is not granted for cosmic powers and ambitions, but is granted for the spiritual guidance of Christians and help save their souls!
The violation of the Holy Canons and the contempt of the Gospel, especially by an Archbishop of a local Church, is not just a local issue of the Church, but is an inherent ecumenical issue of our entire Orthodox Church, of which we are members, with head our Lord Jesus Christ!

To the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus
In the name of the Holy Trinity, we, the Orthodox Christians from all over the world, openly and firmly declare that the process of prosecution and suspension of Metropolitan Tychikos in Cyprus, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus on May 22, 2025, and its subsequent actions, are arbitrary, unsubstantiated, unjust, uncanonical, and in violation of the Constitution of the Church of Cyprus and the Holy Canons of the Orthodox Church.
We call upon the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus to restore justice by:
- annulling the uncanonical process of condemnation that was followed, and
- reinstating Metropolitan Tychikos as the Metropolitan of Paphos.
Our prayers are wholeheartedly with Metropolitan Tychikos and with our Church.
